The National Testing Agency (NTA) has officially released the UGC NET June 2025 Notification for the eligibility test of Assistant Professor and Junior Research Fellowship (JRF). What is UGC NET?

UGC NET (University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test) is conducted to determine the eligibility of Indian nationals for:

  • Assistant Professorship in universities and colleges

  • Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) for advanced research

The exam is conducted twice a year by the National Testing Agency (NTA) in over 80 subjects.


Eligibility Criteria for UGC NET June 2025

Educational Qualification:

  • Master’s Degree or equivalent from a UGC-recognized institution.

  • Minimum Marks Required:

    • General: 55%

    • OBC (NCL)/SC/ST/PwD/Third Gender: 50%

  • Final-year PG students can also apply provisionally.

Age Limit:

  • JRF: Maximum age limit is 30 years as on June 1, 2025.

    • Age relaxation is provided: +5 years for OBC-NCL/SC/ST/PwD/Female

  • Assistant Professor: No upper age limit.
